Square Dance Fest' CD Squares, Contras and other dances with calls by
American caller Margot Gunzenhauser. Most of the dances on the CD are
suitable both for school use - with special emphasis on dances that
look good in exhibition - or for home use at parties or get-togethers.
However, note that the Sewing Machine and Texas Special require a
relatively large group of people to be danced easily.
As far as
the level of difficulty goes, the Contra dances are the ones that will
be most difficult to explain to people who are not used to square
dancing. Otherwise, most of the dances on the CD are relatively simple.

About the dances:
The
dances chosen are ones that we felt would be appropriate both for home
parties (with a couple of exceptions) and for demonstrations by school
groups or others. The accompanying booklet describes the dances and
also contains a glossary of the terms used. More dances, including
some that are a little more challenging, are available from us in the
book Square Dancing at School, which includes instructions for these 12
dances and 32 others, as well as numerous tips, hints and suggestions
to help you teach them. The book also includes 6 short cassette tapes
with the instrumental (uncalled) versions of the 12 tunes on this CD.
